My beliefs

My name is Jeremiah Robison and I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. From a very early age I was taught that there is a God and that He is our Heavenly Father. I remember wondering about this as…

Find Your Tribe

A few things I know to be true:
1. I will never win a staring contest with my computer screen.
2. In a hangry moment of low blood sugar desperation, devouring a bowl (or 5) of sugary cereal suddenly seems brilliant.
3. When I wake up, I won’t instantly open my eyes to find myself standing on the pool deck poised to dive in.

I’m fully aware that taking breaks from the screen and doing a few pushups will do wonders for my eyeballs and mental clarity. I know that planning healthy snacks in advance will stabilize my energy levels and curbs cravings throughout the day. It’s a fact that I always feel better if I choose to get out of bed and start the day with a workout. Yet, I don’t always follow through and do the things I know will set me up to be my best each day.

The disconnect between knowing and doing is real. Consistently taking action on winning strategies for thriving and self-care is challenging. How do we defeat the big fat sneaky gap between head knowledge and action? Here’s one way: accountability. It’s a huge game changer.

We all have off days, but it’s rare that a whole team will have the same off day. Teammates can carry each other. Some days you bring an extra dose of motivation to the table. Other days you benefit from the motivation of others.

Let’s say your workout goal for the day is to sprint a mile for time. Imagine you hit the track, knock out your mile, and cross the finish line. Great job! Cue the happy dance. Next, imagine that you run a mile with a friend. You pump each other up, have a little healthy competition on the 3rd lap, and congratulate each other at the finish with a high-five. This time it’s not just about you and you’ve shared an experience. You’re stoked for one another and make plans to do it again next week as you jog together to shake out your legs.

We become like those we surround ourselves with. If I’m in a room full of people who are excited, my excitement grows. We feed off each other’s energy. If I go out to lunch and the crew is amped on ordering green things, I’m equally pumped on eating veggies.

Ever noticed how you begin to talk like the people you hang out with? Surround yourself with other humans who want the same things you do. If your brain waves are in alignment, reaching a goal will happen more naturally.

Set goals that you’re excited about and take action. You’re a smart cookie and know how to take care of yourself. Share your goals with someone who won’t let you quit, and hold each other to reaching your respective goals. Find your tribe and surround yourself with those who inspire you to be your best! Together, we can bridge the gap between intent and action.
