She took short breaths, her eyes pleading for mercy. The evidence of her abomination sat still within her. “Whose baby is this?” He asked when he regained his voice. She let out a scream. It was laced in terror. “I don’t know” she replied, the first drop of tear rolling down her right cheek. “I don’t know, my husband. I really don’t know. I did it for the kids, they would have died.”

He shook his head. Was it really worth it? Being behind bars for years and returning to find his wife pregnant for an unknown father. He thought of the nights where he feared for his life in the cell. The nights where a prisoner was picked randomly and gunned down, to decongest the prison room.

He thought of his conversation with the prison men. “A woman is never faithful without money.” Many of them agreed to this but he swore his wife was different.

She screamed again, this time in pain. The life in her womb was fast approaching. “Help me” she begged. He made an attempt to lift her but dropped her halfway. He needed answers but there was no time. “Please help me, I’m carrying twins.” She cried. His jaw dropped.
