Rain Cloud

I am as a brooding rain cloud, still and silent,
full of life, but unwilling to release, wanting more.
I know something’s needed for a rain song,
and I will not sing till it is finally found.

And sometimes I will become so desperate,
knocking on the trees, whispering to the birds,
swaying the flowers, releasing a few tears:
Who is this for whom I sing, for whom do I cry?
Upon whom must Your grace be showered?

Only silence received, but then sky thunders,
as if tired of my seeking and my wasted energy,
for the time has now arrived to pour my full soul
over whomever the Spirit has placed me.
