How setting time limits in sports participation can enhance child growth?

Vital Guidance recommends parents to ensure their children and teens are not spending too much time in one sport. Too many kids and adolescents are risking chronic injuries and lifelong health problems. As the rule of thumb, a child should spend the number of hours playing sports every week equal to their age. Thus, if a child is seven years old, he should play sports for sever hours per week only. In general, two days off a week is ideal as it provides enough time to play and practice along with ample time to rest and give time to other essential aspects of growth.

Children’s bodies are not developed for excessive exhaustion, and when kids spend too much time training, it can lead to injuries and health problems. Moreover, intellectual development is equally important, and parents should convey their kids the message that they need to evenly balance their sports and study for an aligned growth.

Sports are crucial, and every parent should encourage their child to take part in some kind of sport. But, too much of it can be detrimental to the health and overall development of children as well. Thus, parents need to draw a clear line limiting the sports participation of their children, thereby giving room to other aspects of development.
